The bucket is in excellent condition with
its original natural finish.
*Note The only flaw I see is when the handle
is in the up position it leans to one side.
The top lid design is a Concord Stage Coach
and advertisement: Greetings From Concord,
New Hampshire.
Coopering is the craft of making wooden
barrels, buckets or storage containers. A
small wood covered vessel is also known
as a shaker coopered firkin bucket.
1800's and early part of the 20th century.
The shakers were known to use the buckets
to store dry goods, as well as transport goods.
To show there hospitality to outside travelers,
they would fill the bucket with food. As the
shakers were generous people to travelers
passing through. Please see photo's.
