Primitive Gout Footstool Early 19Th Century
Primitive rocker gout footstool, hard
wood, deep color. I'm not sure if it is
a stain or the wood color. The footstool
was hand carved and has mortise and
tenon joints. The rockers were attached
with a nail as shown in the photo.
This footstool is commonly called
a gout stool, designed to ease the
discomfort of sufferers. Purchased
at an estate sale. The women told
me it had been in her family for five
generations. Please see photo's.

24" long front of the rocker foot
rail to the top of the back rest
19" tall floor to top of back rest
9 " tall floor to the top of center vee
12.5" wide side to side
