Yekuana Indian Basket With Lid
Yekuana Indian basket with lid,
round form, colors are deep rich
browns, black, red, and tan, in
excellent condition.
The basket is well made and quite
large. It is from the rain forest in
Venezuela where the Yekuana
Indians live.
A reddish rose color reed is worked
in several of the design elements on
the basket.
Around the center of the basket is
a band of Armadillos, all in natural
colored reeds, and dyes, collected
from the Venezuela rain forest.
Below and above the Armadillos is
a band of X's and Diamonds that
represent the Anaconda which is
very important in Yekuana culture.
